Hopefully it is going to be an amazing application for your iPhone. It lets you write posts, upload photos, and edit your WordPress blog from your iPhone or iPod Touch. With support for both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (2.5.1 or higher).
It was just announced on the WordPress development blog that WordPress launched a new theme directory. This will be similar to the official WordPress plugin repository, which hosts thousands of WordPress plugins. Here are steps to follow to upload your theme to the new WordPress theme directory.
Blogging is supposed to be fun but it isn’t always like that. If you are hosting your own blog there is a great chance that one day a hacker may decide to target your site.
Upgrade
As good as it is, WordPress still has security issues. Upgrading to the latest version is a must if you want to lower the risk of getting your site hacked.
I’ve just upgraded my site to wordpress 2.6. It was a quite easy process. I logged in to admin area, took backup of my previous version using WordPress Database Backup plugin and upgraded using InstantUpgrade plugin.
I had just one problem, when I was backing up my db in FireFox, but it went well in IE 7.
This total process took 10 mins 🙂 not bad eeeh ….
The release of WordPress 2.6 is now official. In addition to the features I highlighted previously, Ryan has details on his blog about the improved support for SSL, and some new helper functions which will be useful for plugin and theme authors. And the official dev blog post has details on other new features. One of the more interesting things that I didn’t yet know about was that the Press This bookmarklet has some nifty autodetection which will make it easy to automatically embed content from sites like YouTube and Flickr.
WordPress 2.6 includes better support for visiting the admin over SSL. Part of this support involves making sure authorization cookies are delivered only over SSL-encrypted HTTPS sessions. To accommodate this while still allowing the option of visiting the admin over plain http, 2.6 moves from a single cookie setup to a three cookie setup.
